The Little Free Library (LFL) concept was founded on the idea that the free sharing of books creates a sense of connectedness and community. These freestanding “give a book/return a book” centers are a great way for libraries to expand into the neighborhoods they serve — to share books with patrons and for patrons to share books with each other. They are also helpful for providing access to reading materials in remote areas and hard-to-reach communities.
These do-it-yourself kits are designed to help you host a hands-on LFL program at your library. Start by having participating kids, teens and volunteers work on fund raising and identifying potential LFL locations, then organize an LFL assembly workshop, and end the experience with installation events throughout the community. Each kit includes a sign, hardware, assembly instructions and a registration kit with tips on how to manage your Little Free Library. Appropriate for any skill level, the tongue and groove joints and predrilled holes ensure error-free assembly. Unfinished roof panels, sponsor panels and advertising panels sold separately.
