Regular coworkers who work full-time hours are eligible for all listed benefits. Coworkers who work a part-time or temporary status are eligible based on their employment specifics.
Paid Time Off
Paid time off (PTO) is a paid benefit program that combines vacation, sick, and emergency time into one bank of time. It allows more flexibility for the coworker because the “bank of benefits” can be taken for any approved absence such as doctor’s appointments, personal appointments, illnesses, or vacation. The amount of PTO earned per year is based on the amount of years of service with the company, starting with 17 days per year.
Demco observes 8 paid holidays per year, including New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve Day, and Christmas Day.
In the event of the death of an immediate family member, a regular full-time or part-time coworker can take up to three days of paid bereavement leave, which will not be deducted from PTO accrual. Bereavement leave defines an immediate family member as a spouse, domestic partner, child, sibling, parent, grandparent, or grandchild. In-laws and step family members are included.
Twelve months after the date of hire and completion of 1,000 hours of service, regular coworkers are enrolled in the retirement program. This is a way for the company to share profits with the coworker and for the coworker to begin a retirement savings plan. Vesting of the company contribution increases as the coworker earns credited service; after five years of credited service the coworker is 100% vested.
Coworkers are eligible to participate in the 401(k) plan after their first hour of employment. This plan allows the coworkers to contribute their own money to a retirement plan, taking advantage of tax breaks, which will reduce personal taxes. New coworkers may elect to roll over a qualified plan account balance from a former employer into the Demco plan.
All regular coworkers working 30 hours or more per week are eligible for insurance benefits. Qualified dependents include your spouse, your domestic partner (see HR for domestic partner certification paperwork), and dependent children. Our insurance options have a 31-day waiting period before coverage begins. You must maintain a minimum working schedule of 30 hours per week to continue insurance with Demco.
Demco provides life insurance to each coworker working 30 hours or more per week. Demco pays the premiums for the coverage of one times your annual income (up to $250,000) and is payable to your designated beneficiary in the event of your death.
Voluntary Group Life and AD&D Insurance
Coworkers also have the option of buying additional life and AD&D insurance. Coworkers may enroll in life coverage up to five times their annual income to a max of $150,000 without any underwriting or up to $500,000 with applicable underwriting. Coworkers accepting coverage may also enroll their spouses or domestic partners for up to $25,000 without any underwriting or up to $500,000 with applicable underwriting, and dependent children up to $12,000.
Regular coworkers working 30 hours or more per week are eligible for STD benefits. This benefit is payable after 80 hours or 2 weeks of continuous care from a legally qualified medical practitioner. STD benefits pay 80% of eligible wages for a maximum of 26 weeks/6 months. Demco pays 100% of the premium for this benefit.
Regular coworkers are eligible for LTD benefits. The benefit is payable after 180 days of disability and pays 60% of the coworker’s basic monthly earnings. Demco pays 100% of the premium for this benefit.
Health insurance is offered through Quartz, which features a wellness-driven package referred to as Be Well. Be Well requires participation in defined activities in order to maintain preferred benefits. Demco pays a large portion of this premium for active coworkers.
Dental insurance through Delta Dental is offered to all regular coworkers. Demco pays a large portion of this premium for active coworkers.
Vision care is offered to all regular coworkers. The coworker pays for the entire portion of this premium. There are two coverage options available: Exam and Materials or Materials Only.
A flexible compensation plan under Section 125 of the Internal Revenue Code enables you to pay certain medical, dental, and vision expenses, dependent care expenses, and group health premiums with earnings that are not subject to income taxes. Health, dental, and vision premiums are included while additional life and long-term care premiums cannot be deducted.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Demco sponsors EAPs designed to encourage coworkers and their family members to take the initiative for their own health and wellness. This benefit is completely confidential and free to all coworkers.
To encourage personal growth and career development, we provide assistance to regular coworkers with an established schedule of 40 hours per week by reimbursing one-half the cost of tuition and supplies for classes that could prepare our coworkers for advancement opportunities at Demco.
Scholarships for Dependent Children
To further promote our belief in the importance of advanced education, coworkers’ dependent children are eligible for consideration for a company-paid, post-secondary education scholarship.

To promote better health through exercise, weight management, stress management, and other activities, Demco offers an exciting program that encourages coworkers to track their activities using a point system. Coworkers who participate will earn 100% reimbursement, up to their qualified level, for health and wellness purchases the following year.

Matching Charitable Contributions
To support and promote coworker contributions to the community and nonprofit organizations, the company will match up to $250 per calendar year for an eligible coworker’s cash contributions to approved organizations. The contribution must be at least $25 in order to be matched.
Demco offers AAA group membership rates to all coworkers. Memberships include discounted dues for you and your family members living in your household. Benefits of AAA membership include Roadside Assistance, Show Your Card & Save programs, and TripTik Routings.

To assist our coworkers in maintaining healthy lifestyles, Demco offers a smoking cessation program that will reimburse coworkers for the cost of their accredited program or device to a maximum of $150 per year.
Discounts are available to coworkers when purchasing products from company catalogs or websites. Coworkers may purchase products offered by Demco, DEMCO Europe, Hatch, and Gaylord Archival at a discounted price, equal to the company’s cost of the product plus 10% to cover administration. Discounted items may be purchased at cost.
