Limited value for teaching STEM
I bought this to use as a STEM activity/lesson and possibly a center in my elementary school library. While the kids are excited to play with this set and the pieces are sturdy, they have limited educational use as far as STEM. First, be aware that the bucket only contains 7 base plates. I bought 2 buckets and still the students must take turns/share when using these as a whole group. Also, while the description says it includes "color coded building plans" my buckets did not come with anything like that. Just basic explanations of how to connect the items. To utilize for teaching more science, I plan to purchase another set by the same brand that includes gears of different sizes. So while this is a good starter tub, if you want to use to teach STEM, it needs to be augmented with other gear sets.
