This + adhesive + waxed paper = spine repair
Started using this to fix spines. It works - just have to make sure to use a lot of Norbond adhesive otherwise the edges might not be perfectly attached.

Good Product But Tutorial Video Important For Use
It works well and was fairly simple to use although I would have struggled without the tutorial video. I suggest those videos be much easier to find and watch. It was shown on one product listing but not another; I just happened to stumble onto it then had difficulty finding it again. It guided me in what to purchase for the repair I needed to make and how to do it.

Holds well!
Our books take a beating and this product has definitely extended their shelf life. I watched the video that is posted (next to the product details tab) for guidance, and the repair worked perfectly. I have come to rely heavily on this product, and it's helped me keep books in circulation longer. I spend less money on replacement books now that I have such a durable repair option.

More than I need
Quality product, but it comes in a 25 yard roll which is an excessive amount for single book repairs. It would be nice if it came in a smaller roll.

Instructions needed for this product
I'd really like to rate this higher, but I haven't been able to use this tape yet! I think most Demco customers are library employees who have a coworker to show them how to use commonly ordered supplies for book repairs, but I'm just a book owner who wants to repair some of my older books at home. What I'm stuck on is the gummed adhesive backing aspect. This is mentioned in the product description, and indeed the tape feels like it is coated on one side. However, the product video "Repairing a broken hinge" shows the repairer brushing liquid adhesive onto the tape. This has confused me. Does the gummed adhesive backing require additional liquid adhesive to be applied in order to be activated? Or does the product video on the page for this tape show a different type of single-stitched binder tape that doesn't have adhesive backing?
I emailed Demco customer support ten days ago; eight days ago I received an email saying my question was being referred to a Product Manager, but since then I have heard nothing.
I would also like to ask about the stitching: the stitches are not very close together, and the stitches at the end of the roll are fairly loose. This seems normal, but I am not sure if I should try to tighten the stitches or secure the loose ends when I cut the tape to size. Having never made this type of repair before, I worry that after I adhere the tape to the book, the stitches will unravel, making the hinge come loose again.
